I posted on this site I wanted to buy a complete chrome rear CS bumper...

I received an email from a guy in Italy (Italy and Nigeria are famous for scam artists) stating he has a complete bumper for 200 Euros including 3 day international shipping... (seems very cheap)

I ask for a photo of the bumper and receive a photo of a modern customized 4 cylinder Turbo Motor (with Chrome)... I guess I could peel the chrome off the motor and put it on a CS bumper when I get one?

Then he offers to send the bumper all I have to do is pay the shipping... He says I can pay for the bumper after I get it. He wants my complete address and phone number

Should I be suspicious??? I already sent him the 200 Euros ( $288US...) and all of my personal info :-) NOT!

A complete rear bumper (clamp, license lights, underriders, rubber) in good shape will routinely sell for closer to US$500 or more, not including shipping. Even at $500, its going to need new chrome. If it were me, Id stick with Peter, Carl, or Dan. In fact, I did.

I am not sure if he is a member or was Phishing on our site...

I have no idea if it is a real deal but when I saw "Italy" the red flags went up!

I have noticed that a very large number of sellers put in their descriptions "will not ship to Italy" so I took that to mean that there are fraud issues in that country...

I found a perfect and totally complete front bumper for $175 and parts of a rear... Peter, Carl, Dan ect are all great sources! But they quoted me $1,200-1,500 each bumper with new chrome and I am not even sure that I am going to use them on my 1974 CS...

i have shipped to Italy ...

before and had no problems.
I guess, there are crooks just as there are some here in the good ole...

Your money is gone....

Do you have any idea what it would cost to airmail a bumper from Italy?

You can sidestep would-be scammers by following these common-sense rules:

* DEAL LOCALLY WITH FOLKS YOU CAN MEET IN PERSON - follow this one simple rule and you will avoid 99% of the scam attempts
* NEVER WIRE FUNDS VIA WESTERN UNION, MONEYGRAM or any other wire service - anyone who asks you to do so is a scammer.
* FAKE CASHIER CHECKS & MONEY ORDERS ARE COMMON, and BANKS WILL CASH THEM AND THEN HOLD YOU RESPONSIBLE when the fake is discovered weeks later.

* NEVER GIVE OUT FINANCIAL INFORMATION (bank account number, social security number, eBay/PayPal info, etc.)
* AVOID DEALS INVOLVING SHIPPING OR ESCROW SERVICES and know that ONLY A SCAMMER WILL "GUARANTEE" YOUR TRANSACTION.

Sorry...

Carl Nelson and Coupeking have earned their reputation- they stand by everything they sell with no argument and known good quality.

Fraud!

So ...red flags went up when You saw Italy :?:, You got a photo of a chromed motor instead of the bumper and You send the money too???
Strange way to make business.

I did not send the money or my personal info... Notice the happy face... a Joke

Sorry I was goofing... Notice the happy face next to the comment... I also wrote I could peel the chrome off the motor and put it on a bumper... Obviously being sarcastic...

I did not send a stranger in a foreign country $288 and all of my personal info without confirmation that the deal was real!!... Plus I would never send personal info just a business address...

Notice to all Italians I am NOT slamming Italy, been there twice and love the country!!! I just see so many shippers that write "will not ship to Italy" that I take that as a warning! And this is not the first scam attempt I have received from there... Sorry Coupeguy if it was not you... I am new and got quoted from 2-3 people $1,200+ for a good chrome bumpers (probably new chrome?). And as I stated I am not even sure that I will use them... If it becomes to involved to do the switch...

PS;
In fact I have to love Italy thats where my Dino Spider came from! A CS Coupe is beautiful but noting else is as beautiful as a Dino

FWIW, the chrome alone on my front bumper was $1,600. That's on top of the core and new rubber.

Be sure to check the inside of the bumpers you are considering. These things rust though from the inside out.
