Just was perusing Tire rack and hoping they still made the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 All season in a 16" sizing. Nope. Tire rack has nothing that fits the staggered Alpina sizing other than track type tires. On other sources I did find a Bridgestone Porenza Sport in the correct sizing, but that is a summer tire. I really like the Michelin High performance All season on my Forester as it has excellent ride and handling qualities while still working in a Canadian October/November/May. Anyone in other markets have choices in 205-55-16 and 225-45-16 sizings?

All season performance Continentals ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus and Michelin Pilot Sport All Season4s are both available on the Tire Rack website (with California selected) in 205/55/16 and 225/50/16 which is the standard pairing with 16” Alpinas.

Oh great I thought it was 225 45 16 rear, that is good news, thanks

I run the DWS on all of my cars year round. Great tire for all but not the best for light winter conditions-doubt you would be driving an e9 in that anyway

I just bought a set of Michelin PS 4 All season tires in 205/55 and 225/50 from tire rack. THese are for Alpina 7"/8" staggered
replicas They were back ordered, but are supposed to be here in early Feb.

The reviews on the Continentals look excellent. Not sure which way I will go when it comes time to pull the trigger. I hope there is still some choice in those sizes.

on tire rack w/ atlanta the
continental DWS is available 151 for fronts / 161 for rears.
michelin pilot sport all season 4 - 182 fronts / 195 rears (rears aren't in stock)
firestone firehawk indy 500 (UHP summer) - 142 fronts / 152 rears
continental extreme contact sport 02 (max performance summer) - 164 fronts / 165 rear
and if your feeling more wealthy - pirelli p7 (collezione) - 263 fronts / 274 rears

205/55-16 and 225/50-16 have plenty of options available, as noted. They're the standard tires size used on my 911 SC, and I am another one of those who has had and is happy with the Continental DWS06. I'd put them on my Jetta Sportwagen too, if it needed new tires.

Great that they are a standard size for the 911 SC. That insures someone will make them. I initially thought it was a 225-45, so my mistake in starting the thread at all. As for Continental, I did put some many years ago on the car in my Avatar to the left after running two sets of Pilots Sport summer tires. The Contis I put on were Summer tires also. They were quite a disappointment in terms of turn in response compared to the Michelin. This is many years ago, so probably no relation to the current Continental DWS.

i have owned the DWS and the Extreme Contact (summer tires) and i preferred the summer tires ... but then again, i live in Atlanta where we rarely get snow. i put the michelin pilot sport 4s on my 911 and i have to say i was underwhelmed compared to Bridgestone RE 050 which was an older design and didn't get near as high of ratings as the michelin. i am running Pirelli on my Audi TTS (p zero) ... they are reasonably good. the history with the michelin tires gives me moments of pause whenever i go to 16". i have 15" alpina style wheels and will be going with Pirelli CN36 on them.

I put the DWS all-seasons on my 911 instead of the summer version because I drive it in anything except snow and salt and temps too cold for 20W50, tare it on long road trips, etc. so I want tires that are good in the rain and in colder temps. I have heard that other tires like various Michelin Pilots do have sharper turn-in than the DWSes, but I’m willing to sacrifice that for the benefits to me. At any rate, there are plenty of options in the relevant sizes. I wouldn’t say no to 16” Alpina reps on my E12, in which case I’d also just put DWSes on it, but I’m happy enough with the. 15” Alpina-style wheels and they’ve got new BFGs on it in any case - I’ve got many higher priorities than new wheels and tires for that car.

I have no experience on these Michelin tires in this thread. I have quite a bit of experience on Michelin Pilot Sport 3+ (On my Forester) as well as the old Michelin Pilot Sport 2 summer tire on my 98 M3. I used to buy Summer tires for the Forester, but found them dangerous in November before I get it's special tires on...then it becomes a Performance Beast!!... Bstone WS90.

PIRELLI CINTURATO P7 from Longstone for me when it's time.

you can also buy them from Tire Rack - either place is expensive. but Tire Rack was less expensive than Longstone (which is listed in GBP)

Yes, but I don't think Tire Rack will have the original classic design but rather an updated version.

they will have the same tire as Longstone - the P7 ... this is the original P7 pattern from the mid 70's (very familiar with it as i was a navigator in a 76 porsche 930 TSD rally car back in the day). i have also included the 15" cn 36 from tire rack. @78e12 - check the pics and prices on Longstone ... you will see its the same. the new 'p7' looks radically different (and is higher performance)

nope - these are vintage design, the construction is new. Pirelli isn't clear on whether the sidewalls / tread compound is per the original design or newer
