what do you guys use for seat belts ? I'm looking for 3 points fixed belts ( no roller) so that i can mount the high point under the rear seat arm rest. ( '70 2800CS)
This means a rather long belt , which most are not sufficient . I find some "long" belts but only approved ( Europe CE certificat) for trucks.....

The roller types are only vertical use , so no horizontal mount on the hat shelf..... if horizontal type they are not "legal" .....no CE....

One of my problems going "rally" to street legal build :)

Don’t overlook the factory RHD CSL setup. It is quite elegant and doesn’t have the long belts. @daddywad has it in csl. It’s my favorite design:

Is this an original front seatbelt mount?

Hi there! I happened to stumble upon a front seatbelt picture when I was actually surfing something else. I have never seen such "hook" for hanging the front belt on. Is it BMW original? Since mine is attached to the ceiling I'd like to move it down, for a cleaner look :) Any downsides to that...

The fixed belts installed by BMW were by Klippan and used a chrome hoop mounted on the trans tunnel. I have a set if you'd like them.

We called them "crab claw" belts... a very simple but unbreakable clasp mechanism hooked onto the chrome hoop.

From the 2002 site, not mine or my photo, but these are the style. The tall bit is used for the fronts, short hoops were used in the back seat.

thanks for the hints .... but that CSL option seems quite some work involved and i know Russell's hook/belt , my friend has a CS with that one. Really old school :)

I would like to use the thread behind the rear seat arm rest , only problem seems to find a belt long enough.( 3 m ? ) Prefer even a fixed belt , not a roller.
I see roller belts which can be mounted horizontal on the hat shelf, but not CE approved.....
 
Barry, do they really have to be CE approved? Are the stock ones CE approved?
I put a Scroth retracting harness in my coupe, it's approved to some standard but don't think it has CE written on it.

However, when I registered the car it needed to pass a registration inspection that's more or less like threading a needle, they're strict and check everything twice.
I had the harness installed and that was no problem, they said "this has to be 5 times safer than the stock belt" and that was it, no problems.

But I'm well aware of the differences between countries. Just a thought.
 
correct Robert , i don't think a '70 car must have CE approved belts.....but as i have to search ( prefer new) i better looked in the first place for CE approved.

And seems a problem : i find a fabricator that can make any lenght but above 2.4 m they no more comply with their CE certificat .
Just measured it , with a female of 40 cm we need a male side of 3.2 m !
