I don’t know if there is much interest, but a few have mentioned that aftermarket seat mount higher than the stock seats ... and you lose precious headroom (and feel like your sitting on top of the car).
I was looking at my seat adapters, and unlike the flat plate type sold by Aardvark, mine allow a lower mounting position by perhaps 1”.
Their construction is very simple.
The spacing between the seat mount sheet metal on our E9’s is quite a bit wider than the rail width of these after market seats (16” on center). My brackets have flat strips that lay where the OEM sliders go, but those ‘straps’ turn down at the front and rear and drop about 2”. This can be seen in the picture below.
These dropped ends are connected laterally by another piece of flat stock. The Recaro/Scheel rails are bolted to these dropped lateral rails. My bracket puts the base of the aftermarket seat about flush with the sheet metal where the OE sliders mount. This is lower than the Aardvark adapters by an amount equal to the thickness of the OEM sliders plus the adapter plate. I’d guess that to be about 1” or a tad more. One drawback is the OE seat adjuster lever is no longer functional.
I would like the seats to mount even lower, but the space to drop more needs to be checked carefully as the Recaro/Scheel seat itself is too wide to fit between the stock E9 sheet metal seat mounts. At best I think I could modify my brackets to get another 3/4” max drop.
Beyond that and you need to modify the floor.
