I am looking for the dimension for the pleat width on the 72 and earlier vertical pleated seats. I am having Aarvark Racing build some e21 seats for me and am away from my car for a couple of weeks. From memory it seems to be around 2-1/2"? A more accurate number would be great.

Thanks in advance.

My seats are original and the pleats vary from 2 to 2 1/16ths (probably from being sat in over 40 years). Also, at the top of the seat by the headrest posts the outer two strips fan out to 3". If you want detailed measurements and pics all over let me know.

Pleat measurement!

Hi;
I just made up seat s for my 2000CS. They also measure 2" to 21/8".
You have to make the stich lines 21/4" to have them come out to be the width you want. The reason is that the foam backing actuaqllu shrinks the width about 1/8".
Trust me try a small sample using any material and you will see what I mean.
I had to rip out all the stiching and do the pleats over.
Any questions PM me.

Many thanks. 2-1/8" should be close enough. We will see if that dimension fits evenly between the Recaro side bolsters.

Has anyone done a seat like this? From Aardvark?

Hi Sven,

I just had a set completed and I like how they turned out. My pleats are 2" in the center section and wider on outside edges. Custom work was done on top to replicate early vertical pleats to more closely match original rear seats. Dave didn't work on these but he did supply me with some parts. He was helpful...

Tom, very nice . I'll see if he can replicate the pleats over the top of the back. Way more in character with the originals.
