Serious mold issue?

Stan, I will definitely share all the specifics if I decide to pass on it. I would like to see the car go to a good home either way. It is a shame to see it sitting, and I feel bad for the seller's situation. It was his deceased brother in law's car and he is in the awkward position of trying to sell it. Price currently is a little high I believe given its condition. Supposed to be taking a local professional out tomorrow to look it over. Also posted more pictures to that album if you are curious.

I will be very curious to learn what a PPI will reveal.

POSITIVES (and I am an optimist)
nice 1973 front bumper (possibly a good rear bumper)
the wood looks good
aluminum trim
cloisonne roundels

Many good parts....

Our CSi Barn Find was in much better shape than this car. One look at ours and it was a designated parts car. Flat out, no debate. And ours ran with a BMW factory replacement motor! Steve

I can see the tech reciting:
"the car thou present'd may not amount to much moo than a vin at this time"

and recommend you either part it or cook yourself a succulent Coq au vin.

I too am a big restoration fan, but as our German friend has noted, prolonged exposure to mold is very unhealthy. In addition, given the materials used, I doubt it can be completely removed from the interior of an e9.

Took the cover off my 72' 2002 to do some work on it yesterday and found a light coat of Mold in the interior….on most of the vinyl surfaces. This car has sat in a semi heated space all winter and into the summer with a cover over it. It is quite dry and gets some heat when cold and steady ventilation over the summer, but I guess not enough.

So far I sprayed it down with cleaning Vinegar and water. Will keep a close eye on this life form and make sure I stamp it out. It did not smell fortunately like what was in that Mercedes I looked at over the winter.
