Signed up for a welding class, and it says to bring some metal of the type and size I want to work with. Anyone know the predominate gauges or sizes for fenders, door skin, hood, sill/rocker, etc? Thanks

(I couldn’t find it searching or in lit.).

Standard E9 fenders gauge is approx 0.93mm so I’m guessing the sills/ rockers are a bit more and the door skins a fraction less.

I think CSL is 0.77 for the fenders but defer to Keshav. My poor welder reckons it's like welding tissue paper :p

0.7 mm is .0276" or just thicker than 23 gage at 0.028125". Gonna take some very fine control of heat to weld that CSL metal.

0.93 mm is close to 13 gage at 0.09375". "Easy" but only in comparison.

Though you didn't say, I expect you're talking about wire-feed MIG or better (but more difficult) TIG welding. Waiting to hear how it goes.

MIG for now, but I think the class is a go-at-your-own-skill type of thing, so they may just let me use a soldering iron!
