Got my new shift boot from the Coupeguy (thanks!) and now somewhat stumpted on replacement. This sadly short thread indicates to pull the old frame and "good luck" getting it back tacked in. Anyone else had an experience of success?
One word for short-term success: VELCRO
When those happy workers at Karmen attached that boot to the console with the metal frame, there was no such wonder of "rube goldberg" engineering. Given that some of us will need to be getting back at inside the console (like that never happens) the velcro easily attaches to the boot and the console frame. I kept the frame, which in excellent condition and pre-drilled for tacks. Heavy duty furniture tacks or even thumb tacks would be better than the original nails. When the final restoration is complete (and we have world peace) , I can tack it in permanent.
