Shock absorber interchangeability with E24 front and E28 rear

Are e24 front shocks and e28 rear shocks interchangeable with E9 ?

My parts dealer says they are same for sure. I have seen some interchangeability with E23 in ebay adds but never heard e28 similarity.


In the add it says "BMW E9 E3 2.5 3.0 CS S.5 E12 E23 E24 77>81"

That shock will absolutely not fit on an e9, it has a spring perch.

Go onto this website and you can see what the Bilstein part numbers are for the E3, E9 etc.( and they do differ from the e24 and e28).

#1 e 28 shocks/ e24 shocks will not work in an E9 without MAJOR mod's
#2 that is not an e28 shock pictured there
#3 that shock looks dead , note the rod stuck in the assembly

I should have write it clear in my post I am not interested in that auction.

My parts dealer was telling me especially e24 shock fits the front but it looks like that is wrong.

Because there is no E9 parts in Turkey. I am looking for any interchangeable E9 part with E12 E23 E24
so far I only found the e24 rear brake disks.

Well, e12 and therefore early e24 springs work in the front so I would think shocks would as well. Rear are very different.
