Given that $274 is the current price for an E9 front shock mount and $30 is the price for E24 same part, has anyone researched interchanges?

It's a steel plate with a bearing rubber mounted in it and 3 small bolts to mount it. Other than the size of hole in the middle and the location of the 3 (relocatable) bolts, what's the question?

It seems everyone up through the E23 has the same issue.

I bought the e12 mount for our 2800, fits perfectly. Since we didn't have the spacer found in later US cars I bought shorter M8 bolts and removed the longer ones.

Problem seems to be that ALL strut mounts up to the E24 seem to be over $200.

What needs to be done to a $30 E24 strut mount to use in an E9, 12, 23, etc.?

I have

A left and right shock tower pair (front) that I carefully cut from what's left of the e24 Euro if anyone wants them cheap :-)

The current correct 1972 E9 interchange # is 31331106060 for $90. The difference from the original $274 part is the length of the locator bolts.

Some sites show the $30 2002 part interchanging with the early 2800CS.

Maybe the difference is the shock shaft diameter.
