Looks like cs-werk.de sells some insulation, but has 3 types?

Hard to tell from the pics, but wondering which is more correct? Different for model year(s)?

The types are raute, glatt and wabe.
Diamond, smooth and honeycomb.

I believe Honeycomb would be typical of our cars.

I'm still debating whether to put these on.

On one hand, kind of cool to have that OEM look.

But on the other hand, after so many years, they crack and look like crap.

True that they can look crap after many years, BUT our cars are typically far better looked after now and when you look at the truly well cared for survivors, that insulation tends to still be ok.

i know that later cars (after 2800cs had patterned insulation - honeycomb?) ... but the ones that i have that came off an early 2800cs were smooth. time for all of us to learn something - calling Chris Macha + other high-coupe-knowledge individuals.

When I chipped away some of the insulation on my 71 2800, it looked smooth on top (most likely from having paint on it), but the honeycomb pattern revealed itself in the imprint on the metal left behind.

Hmm..

The real problem with the cracks isn't that that it looks like crap, it's that water gets in the cracks and you have the inner fender rusting from above and below. When my car was redone, the insulation was intentionally left off.
