If a sideloader LSD doesnt turn the opposite/other side wheel in the same direction does that mean the clutchplates are worn.. And does it make any difference if the diff is out of the car when you perform "the test" and finally if the plates are worn can new plates be purchased somewhere ?

not to take potential work away from our good friend Don, but i do see that diffsonline does rebuild the LS carrier, for comparative purposes only, i see that for a 188mm carrier with 2 clutch (40%) they charge $595 - installation not included

To be clear- I have never rebuilt an LSD.
I leave that to the pros.
A small package brought to Queensland in my baggage- that I can handle.

Hey Don, are you planning on coming to Sydney also? I owe you a beer or two for the centre bearing you sent me.

Also, dumb question coming up! Can the parts above turn a stock, non lsd diff into an lsd?

Cheers. John

As it turns out Don , a 188mm kits is available here in Brisbane with a guy who specializes in BMW diffs ...how about that ...we may be down under but theres things happening here!! If you have time when here send me a PM , and happy to catch up

Flying in and out of Sydney on June 19 and July 5
Staying in surfers paradise.

Oh, pity your not coming to Sydney, but I'm sure the locals up there will take good care of you. Be sure to try the mud crab and keep an eye out for the bikini clad meter maids...

Cheers. John
