guys,

anybody know the size of the recessed head screws + hollow washer that mounts the rear panel of the trunk? i looked on penske and the orange book - couldn't find the screw listed. the 2 sizes of screws listed in the trunk are m4.8 x 38 (6) in the main floor boards and m2.9 x 16 in the fixed floor board (4).

info

Those screws are referenced on the early ETK books (2 sizes). The tool kit shown on orange books or most of the on-line diagrams, show late tool boxes, with no screws.

Hello again

Upper post for tool kit screws, but your post was for liner around tail light ?
I suppose you can take those used in the inside trim of the vehicle..

Screw ref : 07 11 9 902 412 ST2,9X13

Washer : 51 18 7 680 093

i am referring to the rear elephant skin panel that surrounds the taillights. no screws are shown in the orange books or on line. not the panels surrounding the tool box or the floor panels.

?

IMHO, there is a possibility that this panel was glued, originally. But went down with age and humidity.
(In that case, any screw will fit i.e. (2.9 x 16)).
On my car, there are some strange traces inside the panel (dried sealant or glue), and the screw holes do not look "factory made".
Maybe a "first and only owner" in this forum could clarify this point...
....and tell us if "Hans" really forgot something in the ETK.

For info, in a blue E9 ETK binder of 1972, the screw and the washer are shown, but not referenced.

Do you want a measurement of one?
yes please ... my car didn't have any screws, but there are holes where they were. i presume they are the smaller screws m2.9 ... not the m4.8. i will probably go find some SAE stainless screws that are close (as Chris has suggested).

i know the trunk floorboards m4.8 x 38 are damn close to #10 x 1.5". so i will get some stainless oval head + hollow washers to mount the floor boards ... as my car didn't have the screws there either.

They are 17.5mm long x 2.8mm wide with a thread that looks to be 1mm. Measured with a caliper so reasonably accurate I guess.
