I'm rebuilding an open diff for my '72 2002 and have run into an issue. One of the side gears has a bit too much play and needs to be shimmed differently. The shims needed are #07 here:

I might also need #06 as well, although the two diffs I have only appear to have two shims per side gear... no "diaphragm spring" (unless #06 looks just like a shim?)

Trouble is, these are NLA from BMW and I'm not sure how to proceed. Does anyone have these lying about? I'd like to get a hold of all the ones that are thicker than 1.3mm. Thanks!

I had my diff rebuilt at a shop that specialized in doing large equipment trans and diffs. When I went to replace the front seal on my trans, I found a lot of play between the housing and bearing. I went back to the shop that did my diff and he had tons of shims and gave me a bunch. Point is a trans or "gear" shop should be able to help you out with your search
