Nice video but I think our 3.0CSLs were the first M cars... although prepared by tuners at first.
The M1 is nice, but it (to me) never represented a "BMW design" and there has been nothing like it since. OTOH there were several other cars of the day, and previously, which used the same or similar lines. It was also probably a massive commercial failure, as it never arrived in time to compete in the series for which it was intended.
507? nice, but hardly unusual. Look at all the euro two-seaters of the time and before. Jag XK? MG? They all shared the design language of the time.
But I don't speak his design language. Hofmeister and Goetz for me, tho'.
Surprised the 328 wasn't mentioned... I've read it cost 3x a doctor's salary in those days.
These are halo cars, before the term was common. Nice, but hardly intended for the average person. Fortunately happenings for third- and fourth-tier owners like me...
