Finishing touches before painting. And then it is "just" a matter of putting it all the interior and electronics back together again.

nice nice, if you have all the parts it will go together quicker than you think. Your next hurdle will be getting it tuned and riding the way you want it. Good luck- we'll help if we can.

Thanks for the en- and discouragement :)

@Atlas - 5 years? Damn.....

@Peter - Yes, a lot will be pretty quick. As for tuning the ride I am really not sure what can be done once it is all in place? Swaybars may come later, want to see how it feels with just Carl's springs first. As for engine tuning a Megasquirt will be installed. No other engine tuning except for Ireland headers.

tune and ride

Johan, I have a very standard suspension set up; Carls springs all around, Bilstein HD's, EVERY bushing changed, new ball joints and basically all new steering components-less the steering box. Stock front sway bar and no sway bar in the back. I also put carls strut brace up top. I'm having the air conditioning done now at an outside shop- I just have no experience with that- I will report on the ride, which is subjective, but I have acccess to a private track; 2.86 miles and 11 turns so I should be able to make some reasonable reports. I only put 100 miles on the car since the restoration before sending it in for A/C and some other minor stuff so I can not realistically report on the ride/handling yet but to me this stage is the most challenging because after all the work you're never really sure where your car will "settle in".

@FellowSchwede - yes, swaybars are definately being considered. Bit of a budget issue atm. :( Easy to add later. But I will not race it.

@Peter - I have an A/C I mounted like 10 years ago, works fine but I had to upgrade the compressor as the old one broke. Am very happy with the A/C, I find it really cools the car quite well, at least for European conditions.
Only tip there is to get as new a compressor as you can, unless you want it to be stock. I am kinda curious about the electric ones but now I have a working one so.....
Am quite envious of the track, would be so nice to try it on a track to really get a feel for things. I guess I will have to hit the alps to find out but it is not quite the same thing.
Wonder how much of a difference a strut brace makes? It does look kinda cool ;)
But as for settling in, that will take a little while I think?

For me it would get quite expensive to buy bars and braces from Carl as shipping will be more than the price of the parts :( Is there really a difference though? W&N does have a strutbar but no swaybars I think?

Hej Johan,

a friend close to the Swiss border has some different (some stock) sway bars for the E9 if you are interested. Just let me know. The rear one makes up for a lot, also regarding normal driving on twisty roads.

Cheers
Anders

Thanks Wally, I do believe so too. But I am not sure I will dare drive the car...

Unfortunately not on site to look, would be nice but I will only go pick it up when it is done and keep my fingers crossed.

How is your work progressing?
