I just noticed small cracks in the leather of my headrest on the driver's side. I looked up some old posts ala Murray Fowler and orhers who used Gliptone. I purchased some Gliptone conditioner and cleaner on Amazon. Any tips regarding using Gliptone ?

Hi EJ, I had some hairline cracks in my leather as well, unfortunately there is nothing you can do to make the leather "stronger". You can clean and preserve what you have but if you can put your finger through it now no amount of conditioning will make it so you can't put your finger through it after. I did the whole cleaning and conditioning thing on the car I'm working on now and the good leather really cleaned up well but the cracked leather has to be replaced, thus my seats are now an my guy's getting repaired. I'm/he's doing his best to only replace the damaged leather but we'll see what happens.

Thanks for your replies. The only thing I have used in the past was Lexol. The results were okay, but I didn't have anything to compare it to. I look at the small cracks in the leather of the headrest ( nearest to the window) as a warning that I need to take heed of the maintenance of the overall status of the leather interior. I hope to let you know how the Gliptone works out after it arrives. I've never tried Leatherique, but was concerned about comments that said it was sorta sticky.

the leatherique product has a couple of good things - 1 is the leather cleaner, the other is the rejuvenator.

they also sell a product to fill cracks - if you are going to refinish the leather.
