I've removed all the asphalt/sound-insulation from my interior. In the interior area under the rear seats, above the rear pushrod rubber mounting, I found half cup of sand when the asphalt peeled off. (BTW this material only contacts the metal like 60% of the area it is applied and this was a air pocket ares)
Where did this sand enter the interior? How should this be sealed up? In the picture I can see a gap under the push rod receiving bracket but shining a light in the gap does not show under the car.
Here's the pictures >>
Does anyone know?

My car began its life in the Arabian peninsula so I know where the sand came from... but what path through the chassis?

I drove my 2002 on Pismo Beach years ago, in the early 90's. Not sure what happened to that car, but if it is still around, I GUARANTEE, they are still finding sand in it.

Love that beach bimmer with room for a bike and a board!
When I lived in Boston my coupe and Thule carried my bike and windsurfer to the Cape Cod and Maine camping trips.
