Gruppe: Any caravans heading down to Woodley Park from NorCal/Sac area?
Just might be able to make it this year....

I’m heading down to SoCal Vintage from Portland, OR area on Thursday (Halloween). Along the way I will be dropping my coupe off at Sfdon’s shop to have work done. Therefore, I’ll have an empty (enclosed, hopefully) trailer the rest of the way down. Staying at in-laws in Santa Clarita.

The upshot is that I’ll have an empty trailer from the Bay Area to Santa Clarita, then heading back to Portland on Sunday. If any forum members want to save the mileage and have their car trailered, please let me know.

Mike

"Sounds we got ourselves a convoy...."

Likely trailering w a pick up of parts to unload...

Let me know by PM if interested in hitching a ride. My tentative plans are to leave my home around 3-4 am on the 31st - Thursday, be down at Don’s shop early afternoon to drop my E9 off, on the road (with available trailer space) to Santa Clarita by evening. The return trip on Sunday will be blasting through to Portland, but will stop to unload a car wherever needed along the way.

There has been a rally from the Bay Area to the Woodley meet for a few years now. We meet Nov 1 at Peets in Morgan Hill at 0730 this year and follow some very interesting and twisty roads to SoCal. We'll be stopping for lunch at the Longbranch Saloon in Creston. I'll be by myself in my E3 if you want to hitch a ride. You can get more info here:

Just a thought.. this year when I attended Laguna Seca Historics, I took an interesting route... I5 north, CA198 from Coalinga to San Lucas and then
the 101 North.

CA198 is an amazing, windy, twisty road with no traffic... I drove it in my subaru like it was a rally race. Incredibly fun.

I'll be at the show.

Anyone on here attend SoCal Vintage this year other than Barlow? Just wondering how it went and if anyone has any pics?

I drove down from the Portland area and met 3 friends who were smart enough to fly in. It was quite a cool show. Really good stuff and I may make it a regular event for me. About 10 E9s and a few E3s. Tons of E10s. I kind of expected a 507 or 503 presence, being SoCal and all. But, alas…..

I attended for about three hours and thought it was a really good show... an E9 with a S38 M5 motor was supposed to be in attendance, but didn't make it.

Nice collection of E28's, E24's and E10's. Very large group of mid 80's 3-series vehicles. I saw one or two E12's.

Curiously.. what caught my attention the most.. a group of transplant enthusiasts who installed Honda S2000 motors in their 2002's. These vehicles were setup as track cars. I failed to take a single photo of any of those cars. (Pesky kids. My boys kept distracting me.)

Yeah the crowd has changed a lot it seems even over the last few years. It is good to see 10 E9's. The E9 crowd never really had a big presence there it seems. I was surprised there were 10 there.

It used to be a lot of 2002's, still are I guess, but now it seems it has morphed into mostly E30's and the E31 crowd is pretty big in SoCal. Not surprising to not see a 507 or 503. Nice pics, thanks and looks like you had a good time.
