Hi Folks,

Brace yourselves! This crispy manifold came from
the engine I bought. The car had a small battery fire that was enough to melt all off the hood insulation. If you know anything a lot the heat and expediency of an engine fire, you know this fire didn’t last long. Wiring was ruined and some plastic. Not hot enough to melt the radiator hoses, or damage the dashboard. It left a mess of the manifold and a number of other plastic bits.

I confirmed that the hood insulation comes off the manifold with a heat gun or torch. Just heat and wipe/scrub. Would likely come off with a powered wire brush and no heat. I’m happy to test.

The throttle body is gummed up but may be salvageable. Operate under the assumption that it is not.

If no takers I’ll vapor blast it and try again. :)

Bananas are partially unscrewed in pic below.

In case you are curious about the motor, I have a rebuilt head on hold for it but this one seems unphased. The powder coating on some of the aluminum parts didn’t make it (including this manifold).

Mark, u gotta try to revive that intake. It would be the best before and after EVER...the vapor blast guy here locally occassionally uses easy off oven cleaner first, lets it sit, then vapor blasts it...worth a try. If you were local i would drop it off at Linco here to strip it and then vapor blast it....
