Brace yourselves! This crispy manifold came from
the engine I bought. The car had a small battery fire that was enough to melt all off the hood insulation. If you know anything a lot the heat and expediency of an engine fire, you know this fire didn’t last long. Wiring was ruined and some plastic. Not hot enough to melt the radiator hoses, or damage the dashboard. It left a mess of the manifold and a number of other plastic bits.
I confirmed that the hood insulation comes off the manifold with a heat gun or torch. Just heat and wipe/scrub. Would likely come off with a powered wire brush and no heat. I’m happy to test.
The throttle body is gummed up but may be salvageable. Operate under the assumption that it is not.
If no takers I’ll vapor blast it and try again.
