The grills in my 72 model year Bavaria do not have the large holes (nor the smaller one to the right of the large hole)...only the holes to the left of the large hole which are used to mount the grill. Although mine is a 72, it was one of the first 3.0 made in July 71. It appears that the grills like Markos shows (51131811483/4 were used from July 1971 until the end..except for the first 3.0s like mine that were probably using up the old grills without the holes (51131808703/4). There are a third set of headlight grills (51131802567/8) which are for even earlier cars and I assume they are the silver ones.

Since I don't have the holes that are in the newest grill PN, what are the holes used for?

Hi Folks,

Update. These are sold to the first person in line, who agreed that $300 per side is fair. He suggested that number initially, only after I reached out for an opinion on asking price.

I’ve played the “go to guy” role on fair pricing for a long time. I always provide my opinion on fair forum pricing, as well as opportunistic (ebay / BaT) pricing. Some parts are so rare and regularly inflated that I require assistance.

I hope that nobody feels that my wanting to ask a fair price is ruining the hobby. I take my reputation as a seller seriously, and I feel that I have done a good job of offering stuff at FMV.

Lastly, all of the crap that I still need to buy has doubled or tripled in price. I think it is reasonable to sell stuff that I don’t need at *forum market value in order to fund things that I absolutely require.

Only a handful of people know and understand the magnitude of the DiY project that I have personally taken on. For the record, I don’t need anything BMW related.

This is my “hobby”. Just don’t call it that in front of my very frustrated immediate family.

Hope you got "contractor pricing" on all that stuff! Your point is well taken. Pretty much everything has gone up in price. Hard to think used car parts prices should be frozen in another time. Markos really has tried here, to judge where people are at and made a great deal for buyer and seller. Well done!
