solved - Hood torsion bar assembly

My coupe is in the body shop for a few things, one of which was hood alignment. They have identified the torsion bar as causing the hood misalignment and are removing it for now.

Once I have the car back I will be able to measure it against the measurements that @eriknetherlands & @alprada70 have provided in this thread. Meanwhile I thought I would post to see what is available.

As i couldn't understand why the tubes of the 2 systems described above are different in length, I decided to pull the springs from my old (now refreshed) system and also from the recently purchased green one which appears to be 20mm short.

What would you guess?
Different lengths of the springs as well!

Why on earth would bmw have made 2 different widths? Is the narrow one a 2000cs system? Do they have a comparable mechanism?

Maybe the short one is for a 2002, they have the same set up I will measure one later today
