Some BMW Pebra keys in auction

I'm sure there is a use for them but I don't understand. Why would anyone want used pebra's? Do they fill them in and re-drill them?

It would be possible but it would not be cheap due to the time needed (TIG welding) to cover the holes and machine the surface but for some hobby might not be explained by time or effort-based categories.

On the other side some of the keys could probably be used of other locks - not purely matching the code. Just a guess.

It is also some kind of memorabilia or to shock other E9/E3 fans with the number of keys carried as many E9 owners have more than two types/code for one Bimmer.

Might be some have even 6pcs (L/R door, trunk, glove box, ignition switch and fuel tank cap) for single car as these locks were really not robust enough.
