Essentially you are correct in your understanding. I will have to tell you I never measured how much of the threaded bushing sticks out from the adapter plate and the size I gave you is an "eyeball" measurement. Once again let me state that this has never been an issue of any type

I just fixed the oil pan and changed the filter in my '69 2800 and the bolt was stuck to the housing on the filter, so it was a "spin-on" type housing. Just sayin'...
