Staggered 17 inch Style 5s

Having had these wheels on my car, as well as a staggered set of Style 32s, the issue lies mainly in the difference in tire design. Some tires have a thicker sidewall protector that will most certainly rub, others don't. I've tried with 225 and 235. My goal was a square set of 245/40/17, but they simply will not fit without a spacer or different offset wheels.

Of course, YMMV, this is my opinion only.

Style 5's finally mounted

Well, finally got the 17x8 style 5's mounted! Needed 3 mm H&R spacers on the fronts without needing new studs. I was afraid there would be too much poke on the fronts but they are actually very flush. Rears are pushed out a bit more but still not anywhere flush. Thought about spacers for the rears but that would require replacing studs as the rear studs are shorter than the fronts. Plenty of clearance overall as the diameter of the new setup (225/45/17 Michelin Pilot Super Sports) is actually a bit smaller than stock (which surprised me). Fenders are rolled. I'm diggin the new look. What do you guys think?

Looks amazing!!

I actually have 10mm spacers that may go on the rear at some point.
This will bring the rears flush with the outside edge just like the front.

Kirkland, Wa.

Plan to take a trip up to Seattle from Portland in the coupe this summer. (If I ever get the side drafts installed)
We should hook up for beer. Brewery stop is always a must in the NW.

Thanks Gordon. Let me know when you're up this way and we'll go for a cruise. I wonder if anyone else would be interested in a group drive. That would be a spectacular site to behold.

I am flying in next week on business!
Love to have a beer and a ride! I am meeting Sven.

Bbs

CCMGUY8, your wheels and tires look great. I just finished restoring a set of RS, staggered, 16's for my E9. I live in Spokane (grew up in Kirkland) and am in the Seattle area quite a bit. I would love to see you car one of these days. I will be driving mine over that way a few times this Summer.

seattle/nw coupes

the nw coupe contingent is becoming substantial - 4 on this thread alone, plus sven, shighland, me, and ??? (leaving anyone out?). and of course the infamous bmwpete with his 4 csl's (or is it 5 now pete?).

sounds like a gathering should be in the offing. i volunteer my house for beers, bbq, and cars (we have very large driveway, easily accommodate 8-10 cars for a killer coupe picture).

I Agree

Love the pictures of your car. I purchased a similar front air dam from Mario and have yet to get it painted. My whels are the same size but won't be quite as polished on the lips. Can you confirm where you bought the rings and spacers? There was a post on the other Style 5 thread that went to two defunct auctions. Thanks

Your car looks great with the style 5s. And please count me in for a meet and greet. My Coupe won't be ready but I'd enjoy meeting some of you that I haven't yet.

I while back I created a data base of all the coupes in the Puget Sound area that I'm aware of and it continues to grow. It's up to 21 cars. As for Peter's collection, it's at six CSLs. The fifth one is pictured here and and just arrived last week. Number six is an Alpina race car that's still in Europe but on its way.

bwalvoord, here is the link for the rings:

Thanks to afeustel for that.

I purchased the 3mm H&R spacers from a local shop in Redmond, WA called Achtuning. Great guys who specialize in Audi's but were very happy to help. You may be able to buy from them online or from another source since these spacers are fairly common I think.

Let's all definitely get together at some point. Thanks for volunteering your place Alan. Bill, 21 cars really? I never imagined so many. What a site that would be. Pat, let me know when you're in town and we can meet up.

They look great on your car! Like the airdam too.

I'd like to see your car in person, are you going down to Oktoberfest?

Wow!

I got to tell you...Love the wheels!

I know the pureist probably get the shakes...but I'm not one! Great Look!

Thanks guys. Vince, unfortunately I won't be making it down to Oktoberfest this year but hopefully one day. I'm trying to keep that air dam as pristine as possible but I know it's going to be tough.
