As the result of their findings with the stainless steel cars, BMW decided that rust proofing was now superfluous and from then on only a very thin coat of primer and under body Schutz whose shelf life had long since expired, were used to give customers the impression of corrosion protection and Hans and Franz on the assembly line were instructed to shoot the material into the body panels only if they felt like it or if they had plenty of extra time left over after hitting the beer dispensing machines for the 6th time in 3 hours.
