Hi Guys,

To cut a long story short, my car came to me missing the stainless sill/rocker moldings that attach to the black painter outer cover.
The last time I checked these were unavailable, (haven't checked lately, but assume they still are)

If after Christmas they are still NLA I plan to make some from solid stainless flat bar.
This is where I need a little help please.

Can somebody throw a tape measure and vernier over there moldings for me and supply me with the following sizes

length over all
Width (at the base, surface that sits against the black outer cover)
Width at the top (I believe the sides are tapered a little? so the top face is narrower?)
Thickness
And maybe a couple of pictures so I can get a grasp on the profile of the molding (one of the end, as I believe this is shaped also?

Thanks

Steve

TomkinsonBMW told me that those were on back order. But then again, they have been for a while now. I think they mentioned spring next year as a date for availability?...
Given the complexity of the part (aluminum extrusion with plastic/rubber insert and studs on the other side to attach to the rocker cover) I'd be very hesitant to recreate those.
I think I would follow Steve's advice and scan ebay for these or ask around if somebody here might have them? Parts car maybe?

Good luck

Patrick

Have never bothered with E bay from here in NZ, just seems to far away and to much hassle.
However, if anyone on the forum has some I would be interested????

If I end up making them I wasn't going to bother with the plastic gasket, I don't think anyone (apart from you guys) would ever know, and to fix them on I was planing on drilling and tapping a series of shallow holes along the length and fixing them on from the back of the black outer sill cover with small stainless machine screws.

I got new sills/rocker moldings from from my local BMW dealer a couple of weeks ago. I have waited 1.5 years for them. They are obviously in production again.
