Starter wanted for 1973 3.0cs

Richard,

you might search for a post from SFDon on this subject. if i remember correctly Don's recommendation was a starter for an 8 series ... much less expensive than a typical e9 ... and newer technology.

Thanks, thanks, thanks, greatly appreciated. I looked up new starters from Bavarian Motor Works and they were only $126.00

Stock is outdated junk and a bioche to install and remove.

SR 441x is all the rage on the E24 circuit also. Have one in my Bavaria, one in my 635 and one in my M6.

I have the SR441x in my CS along with the Odyssey 680 (half the size of a regular battery) under the rear seats. Never an issue starting and I can remove it without taking off any other components (including carbs, L Jet and B35 intakes). That alone makes this an attractive modification.

After you buy a cheap socket, grind it down enough to fit the bolts, and remove two C-tubes and assorted hoses, the stock starter is a piece of cake to remove.....

Richard, no guarantee but I sent my original beast ( to the vendor listed) as a core and they accepted it.
