Hi Forum!

I am going to replace my steering box this spring with a bench tested and lower mileage unit. I am wondering how members have pulled the steering box out? Was the motor in or out? I am thinking about suspending the engine with ratchet straps from a wood crossmember across the engine bay, undoing the strut mounts from the upper fender/engine bay, disconnecting the pitman arm and steering 'rod', and lowering the subframe with floor jack (sans wheels).

Any input is appreciated.

Cheers,
Bill

Bill, I believe I was just able to finagle the thing out without much other than disconnecting the hoses, spline connection and idler arm.

THX. That would certainly be easier. I will try that first. I know it is in a tight spot but sometimes when you hold you mouth the right way, whatever you're trying to do works.

Appreciated
