I am going to buy a car however the steering column cover is mangled up. Will replacing it require a worldwide parts search? The bottom part of the assembly is intact.

Welcome to the forum.

If you are going to buy an e9, the steering column cover should be number 327 in your list of concerns...
I would suggest using the search feature at the top right to learn about what to look for prior to buying a coupe. There is a goldmine of information under that button.

BMachine makes a great point. To answer your question, I haven't found much that can't be sourced locally given patience. A lot of members on this board are saving parts for a rainy day and often need to thin the heard. With that said, a global search will expedite things. eBay.de is a great source for parts.

Would anyone happen to have a steering wheel cover for a Bavaria?

Sooner,

As mentioned in the e3 thread my buddy has one from a late Bav. He said that he couldn't disconnect it from the ignition lock, and he wants to sell the lock set complete. Any tips? Anway, I'll PM his cell of you are interested.

Rayj, welcome! where are you located? and PLEASE, PLEASE listen to Bmachine and the others on this site and have ANY e9 thoroughly inspected before buying it, there is no such thing as "good luck" when purchasing one of these beasts- it's all about the preparation!

I happen to have a corner on the supply of used steering colomn covers (don't ask why). These are the pre-1974 for the NON adjusting steering wheel column. I believe they are identical for a coupe and for pre-74 Bavaria.

I'd go this route then since my friend is having difficulty removing the ignition lock from the cover. This is still uncharted territory for me. I also have an extra cover but it's tied up for another 6-12 months.

Thanks Markos for the lead, a few small purchases, still on the hunt for a steering wheel cover

Am I missing something? I thought I posted something about having a steering wheel cover available.

Mike,

We are talking about apples and oranges. You have a steering Steering Column Cover for sale, which Sooner clearly wants.

In addition to the column cover, no Petri, Nardi, or Momo is complete with out a Taz Steering Wheel Cover. Apparently Autozone is on short supply with the recent shift in warm weather.

Doing my best to cover for Arde. He must be on vacation.
