I like both as well, hard to pick a favorite but maybe the caps.

This has nothing to do with wheels, but I was cruising for a spot to take a picture of the new wheels and couldn't pass this one up...
So you may have three choices; all good. There's a reason that my wife doesn't have one pair of shoes....its all good.
Dick, i love it both ways. the stock trims + covers just look great on the Bav ... but the coupe wheels also look great. i have to say what i like about the trims + covers is the sparkle of the chrome.
I agree on the sparkle. That's the difference for me too. I think too often we are afraid of a little bling on a car when we shouldn't be.

The steel wheel setup is very stately. I like it. Do you have different kinds of tires mounted on each set?
Essentially the same tires on each set. 205 70 14 touring tires. The ones on the E9 wheels are Touring VP Plus from Discount Tire. 50,000 warranty, 540 tread wear, A traction, A temperature, speed rated to 118 mph. Hardly a performance tire. The ones on the steel wheels are similar but Toyos from Les Schwab.
The bottlecap center cap fits if the three small tabs are bent out a little...

I finally got around to testing this and yes with the tabs bent it should work. I’d also wrap some tape around the perimeter of the tabs.
I also tried a turbine center cap (my preference for Alpina wheels on non-Alpina cars) and it’s pretty loose and too tall. I think this is the winner and still looks reasonably period correct. Would be even better with some white letter Radial T/As.

I just had it refinished to see how it would look with the cap.
I thought about doing that too, but with all the environmental regulations in place now it's gotten really expensive to have anything re-pond scummed.
Here's what they look like with the Roundels....
The stock caps still go on with the enclosed lug nuts and the center bore caps. Easy to switch up the look...

Interesting how they continued the raised "spokes" all the way to the center or the wheel. It makes the wheel look finished even with the smaller center caps.

Very impressive dual-threat...to be clear, the small cap is 36131117649, correct? I think that the price of old alloys just went up...

They are expensive new, but plentiful used. I got mine off eBay. $30 for all 4. They cleaned up.
