Installed Gary's Alpina steering wheel and cannot decide between the three choices.

Will wait for votes and close precincts tomorrow.

A) Stock

B) Spartan Alpina

C) Full Alpina

Arde,

Looks like your 'stock' wheel is an e21 wheel. 74 had that style but center was removable, later cars were not. Not a fan of fat rims but I like #2 if I had to choose. And after trying the original bus wheel and a wood Nardi, I much prefer the euro CSi sport wheel. The others are too small and fat for me.

Out of the three, option B works for me. I never cared for the foam insert C has.

I'm partial to Nardi's myself.

I vote B unless traffic is really bad and you take to beating your forehead against the steering wheel in which case C looks like it was designed for that purpose.

C

Though I'm not a fan of 4 spoke steering wheels, I have a 4 spoke Alpina like C, it came with Vern. Think 3 spoke wheels are more sporty, like the original wood rim and Petri, I also have the steering wheel like HB Chris's. Can't have too many steering wheels or gas caps. 8)

C out of the 3. B is second, A is right out.

As per HBChris A is not a stock e9 wheel.

I've gone back to my stock 74 wheel. Removable padded center and leather wrapped.

I like 'C' the best, but since everyone else is offering their opinions...
The 38cm MOMO Prototipos are very nice alternative to the Petri. The attached photo is a nicely patina'd one from ebay.de that just went for a bit over $1,700. For about 1/2 the price, the second photo is a leather 39cm Personal from roughly the same period that is currently on ebay.

Wow, A lost bad.
I would swear it was stock, just based on oral tradition and logic. The first owner took the car to shows and never deviated from stock, plus if he upgraded he would not have upgraded to foam. I demand an inquiry.

I will drive with Alpina for now and keep the pad in place without screws so I can alternate between B and C to please everybody.

I also love the Petri look but can only afford a Petri dish with cheap bacteria and maybe a foot fungus.

For the guys that voted none, there was no such candidate in the ballot. You have been removed from the voter pool.

For my two pennies.

I would definitely choose C from the three options, its a really nice wheel in an E9.

Although a couple of the alternatives chosen by Stan and kwyjibo would look awesome.

Both are pretty costly though.

Power steering, lazy lock to lock, ultimately flexi body and a bit tippy.... they really are old school GTs. Quick turn in and flip it around agility doesn't exist...thick, small diameter steering wheels don't suit the beast IMO.

Big Nardi and a light touch. Gonna sweat...get some fancy old school string back gloves...

Otherwise...I like C.
