Stock vs Alpina

Wheel choice.

If a Petri is out of the picture, I would go with #2, or a Nardi classic woodie.
IMHO, #3 is way too "busy", and #1 is way too "professor" (of course, no offense meant to The Professor from Gilligan's Island).

Coconut husks

I know what you're saying. The Professor could make a radio out of coconut husks, but couldn't figure out how to patch a boat!

The Professor was an inventor not a carpenter.

I was able to buy a 38cm Petri for $450 USD through Hans Wortelboer from the Netherlands, he had posted it on the E9 Group on Facebook, I jumped on it. Also bought a 2002Ti/Tii wheel like HB Chris's for $150 from Hans as well. Currently Athena sports her original wood buss wheel.

So there are some deals to be had out there, if you are on FB befriend Hans.

I like both 2 and 3. #1 looks like BMW was trying to impress Ralph Nader.

Late to the party, I guess, but my late '72 build came with the "A" wheel, and though I still have it, a wood rim Nardi took its place long ago. Downside is that the spokes are quite square and uncomfy if they hit your fingers.

Of the three possibles, A looks out of place, B does not look "BMW" and "C" would be my preference.

Padded wheel "feels" better

I vote C. I really like the feel of the thicker padded leather 380mm wheel when driving. I have a Petri wheel on my car now which I think "looks cool", but actually prefer the "feel" of the Alpina wheel when driving.

I have been driving C for a few days and it is nice.

Thanks for partial vindication on A's provenance, I happen to also like it.
