I think the small buttons may be the over-current protection for the electrical windows. They are meant to pop up when the window is stuck and the motor draws high current. Usually you restore operation by pushing back in place.

I see a round button that may be the rear defogger I think.

The thick open cable may be the trip odometer reset mechanism. If it is open you are missing the business end of it.

US E9s have the "fasten your seat belt" sign along with a buzzer wired to the driver seat belt. Most owners have removed the buzzer and kept the sign beacuse you can ignore visuals but cannot ignore noises.

Sweet thank you so much!

Strange mounting location for the seat belt sign, it's always on top of the dash, not on the parcel tray.

The big red button is the emergency flashers? I can never remember when I am not in the car. I think my rear defogger is brown, but again, I can't remember :-)

thanks and sorry for the awful photos

Emerg flasher red, rear defrost yellow, two red buttons are circuit breakers for windows (began mid 73), the other switch in back was added by a prior owner, seatbelt sign always on top of dash not on parcel tray (maybe a DOT added item to your euro coupe?).
