Strange numbers

Hello all
I would like to find out what is the meaning of having those numbers on the left hand side and if the other cars also have numbers as well
Looks like 16469? The last number is a bit hard to read

Karmann build number

Those were stamped by Karmann. I think they are pretty much sequential and numbers started over with 3.0L models so 16,000 out of 20,000 as an example.

Yes, as Chris and Steve said, that is my understanding, also. I'm going to guess your car is a '74 +/-? My April '73 was number #12794

That is correct a d thank you for the precise info
Apparently my car was manufactured right at the end of year 73 and delivered to Colombia in July 1974 as stated from BMW arquives
