Well I finally got the car started, after sitting for 10 years it started up on the 4th try. I have been working on it for 4 months now. My clutch gets stuck when I push it in, so I cannot move the car . Can some one recommend a shop in the east bay of San Francisco that can work on the car? Anyone can work on the clutch but most shops don't want to touch the car because of the dual carbs.

You can ask any favor from me.
I wont charge you.

Don! yes of course you were on my mind but I feel bad dragging you all the way to hayward, and it would have to be in the evening since I work the mornings. Or on my day off on a Thursday. Let me know if you dont mind coming to hayward and we can set up a time and day.

I don't understand your problem. Is it:

The pedal is stuck. Doesn't come back up after trying to release the clutch.

The clutch disk is stuck to the flywheel or pressure plate, so when you step on the pedal it is still engaged.

Wow, that't pretty weird. What would they do if you brought in a car with triple carbs?

Thurs eve is fine or during the week in the daytime, let me know.

Yes very weird that a lot of shops wont touch the dual carbs. I use to take my E36 to a BMW independent shop in Castro Valley and they wont work on the carbs.

so when I push in the clutch it doesn't come back up. Don is going to look at it because I have no idea how all that works.

Thanks Don! I really appreciated!

Wednesday or Thursday would be great! I can be there anytime on Wednesday or Thursday at 3pm. Let me know what works best for you.

shoot. Carbs have nothing to do with the clutch. Who's messing with you, that they won't do clutch work on a dual carbed car?

But note, on my recently acquired '93 325i 'vert, the clutch failure was that the throwout bearing refused to slide along the sleeve over the trans input shaft (as I understand it from the shop that took my 800 clams to replace the clutch, and I bought the parts).

This kinda stuff is why I would much rather do my own work, but with a new job, and wife on my case, it went to the well regarded local indie. But that's another not altogether happy story.
