Does anyone have experience with Style 32 wheels? I decided to go ahead and pick up this set:

http://charlotte.craigslist.org/pts/3811895423.html

Despite his listing them as being for an E36 (ET41-47) He says they are ET20 and ET23. We shall see. Just looking at them the spokes look like they are pretty low offset.

I think they look great - the spokes are almost but not quite like Alpinas.

Cheers
James

post is already taken down. if the fins are close to the edge of the wheel, they are probably et40 something. the et20 were deeper set.

Wow that was fast - I guess he took down the post after I agreed to buy them.

The spokes look like the wheels on the Bav - which I believe are ET20 and ET24

Glad see they fit the Bav - they look great. Fingers crossed for the E9.

Cheers

I have a set of those wheels I took off my E39 (swapped for 18'' 42's) 8 X 17 ET20 and 9 X 17 ET26 I tried them on the coupe for esses and giggles. Fit the rear fine for the ET26 but the ET 20 hit the strut. Not by much. Others have made the ET20 work by virtue of tire size and brand. decoupe and vince both have 42's They will have to pipe in to tell you what worked. Say, what was the price as I will be selling my set....

I have the 8"/17" ET 20 Style 42 on the front and it comes down to mm's of clearance depending on the brand of tire as much as the wheel itself. The fender lips will definitely have to be rolled and you might need a spacer depending on how much the tire projects past the wheel lip.

I have Michelin Pilot Super Sport and the passenger has no issues but driver side has rubbed the paint off the strut even though there is a fat 1mm of clearance through the full rotation on both. Spins freely with the car jacked.

Hi Guys,

The prices varies a LOT on these wheels - anywhere from $400 to $1,500. I looked on CL for a while and ended up finding a set for $600 + shipping. The $400 set had all of the spokes powder-coated black which I did not like.

Cheers
James

I love those wheels. I would have all BMWs choose between style32, Alpinas, or Hartges and have all wheel designers retrained to work in the assembly line.

So very true! I have gagged at most of the BMW oem wheel offerings since the mid to late 1990's. The majority of their rims designs has simply been awful. The recent wheels (since mid 1990's) by Alpina, AC Schnitzer, Hartge, BBS have looked butt ugly also. Just give me the classic BMW wheels of the late 70's and the 1980's any day.

I think BMW probably put many of their temp factory workers with no design training into their wheel design department.
