Hi guys , I am looking for a bit of help here . I just bought a set of Volvo sunroof cables which I am planning to use on my e9. My problem is when they arrived they look to me to not be a left and a right cable , but instead seem to be both the same but then someone did unbolt the swivel piece and bolt back on the other way around to make them look different.
So the seller is by now saying : that is the way they came out of the car and that what he shipped is correct.
Do they look correct to ye ???
if both bits circled in yellow are to the left of the cable surely they are not correct and i think 1 should be left and 1 should be right to make them correct .
All 3 cables are in my second photo.
The shortest cable is my original BMW one.

Hi again .
The seller says what he sent me is correct . I don’t think so ..,, but I have never owned a Volvo so I don’t know.
I did drive a very nice Volvo 240 turbo , 2 door with manual gearbox and overdrive in San Francisco in 1991 my brother lived there at the time and I borrowed it from him.
Anyway back to e9’s.
I took my 2 Volvo cables and took them apart and reassembled them so that they would work on an electric sunroof. Ie I flipped the tops around so that the swivel piece pointed the opposite way that Volvo had them, and I cut them down to make them the same length as the Bmw ones .
So I now have 1 original Bmw cable on my car and 1 modified Volvo cable on my car also . And a spare to keep in the garage . ( I wasn’t supposed to have a spare but I got 2 identical Volvo ones instead of 1 right + 1 left )
Anyway here are a couple of pics showing the cable mods. ,
I managed to carefully undo the crimping enough to twist and pull the cables out , then I put some stud lock on the cable ends and reattached and re crimped .

I just noticed this
you can reverse the sides on the volvo cables by pounding out the pin for the for the sunroof attachment and reversing it
as well as reversing the long metal rod
its easy Justin Costa Mesa
i dont know if the cables for the electric are different for the manual
but i know all about the volvo cables
they should work on all early BMWs up to 1977-78 530i and early porsches --although the porsche length may be an issue
i have a few sets --never had an issue from anyone I've sold them to
