Your most viable solution is to remove the slats (no big deal, some careful poking and pushing) and have the slats anodized.
Stevehose can recommend a shop who will anodize them. You might even find a shop locally to do the job.
Finding a good 5 black slat kidney will be very difficult/ expensive and since your kidney is in good shape, the easiest and cheapest solution is what I've mentioned. The finish is perfect, like the original.
I will also add that ALL the 2800 had the silver type like you already have. So you are currently original!
The 5 black slat were (primarily) for the CSL's and found in 3.0 CS/ CSI's.
Hope this helps. Sometimes less actions provide more results!

Another, less expensive alternative might be to apply a black automotive vinyl tape to the slats. This could be done without disassembly (and the risk of damage that entails). And if the tape is damaged, it can be replaced.
I used some to blacken the area behind my side grills and it was pretty easy to work with.

The black tape solution is what I found on my car when I received it 2 years ago. It seems to have been on there for some time, and the black tape has become brittle. I plan to remove the tape and (hopefully) polish up the slats to silver again. But first, I need to straighten some dents/dings in the grill surround (or find/buy a different grill - this would be a lot easier). "Nice" is not a description I can use for mine yet. It looks like someone kicked it at some point.

che ho pagato e che non sono mai arrivato ....
è anche vero che mi hai rimborsato i soldi, ma per me è una perdita di tempo e speranza per i miei acquisti

Hi Rob,
Did you receive the kidney grill you ordered via eBay? I wrote them asking for a pic of the actual grill they will send regardless of the (correct) part# they advertise. I received two replies but no pics.....their answer being I should compare the BMW parts# and if it matches which it does, or send them my VIN and they’d check for me after which I could place an order.
