Taiga Bav for sale in ATL

The tail lights and the roof vents appear to be 1972 or newer model year.

Looks like a 71 to me. 71' sticker still on rear window (although I realize one could put a sticker on but looks original) but main thing is front grills are silver not black. 72' and newer would be black. Tail Lights are same on 71' & 72'-newer on Bavaria's, taillights are different on 2800's and 2500's. And not sure what you mean by roof vents, you mean C-pillar vent? That looks correct for 71' Bavaria. C-pillar vents different on 2800/2500 E'3's.

If you like the color, it would be hard to do better than this. They spent two years and a ton of time / money dialing this car in. Hopefully, someone here will give them a call.

My estimation of the difference between a 71' Bavaria and a 72' Bavaria would be roughly 1'...

No side lights on the front?

They shaved the front side reflectors, and installed european turn signals. They don't stick out quite as fas as the US ones. It also has modern AC with a smaller Denso (I think) compressor, but with the original switches and in car blower. Originally this was a non-ac car.

As I have 'built' my fjord blue e3 one I used this car as a reference over and over, which is why I know this stuff about this particular car.

I filled in the reflector holes on mine as well. But didn't do Euro turn signals. You have to stop somewhere!

I thought that the '71 Bavaria did indeed share the wider taillights, horizontal C-pillar vents, aluminum grilles, aluminum dash trim, earlier seats, etc. with the 2500/2800 - all of the photos in the original Bavaria sales brochure are of this earlier configuration, and I've seen a few such early cars. Perhaps the changes were applied midyear? The VIN ranges for 2.8 Bavs are broken up between cars built between 12/70-4/71 and those built between 5/71-7/71; this car's VIN falls into the later range.
