Tail pipe

As the winter creeps forward repairs are being done to the sleeping coupe. It might be time to address a new tail pipe. I have had the same one for 32 years (!) so I really don't know what is available. The rest of the exhaust system is OK for now. With the Z3 we own there is a chrome trim "ring/cap" that we ordered to slip over the raw pipe. Is that the case with the 3.0CS? And if I remember correctly it protrudes only a slight bit from the body well under the edge of the bumper. I have a dual Ansa that protrudes quite a ways out and have suspected that the exhaust smell in the trunk might come from that even though I have a new trunk seal. Am still hoping to find those filler neck bungs plugs which should help with said smell. Has anyone found them?

I had re-engineered bungs but expensive ($35.00 each)
Search bungs, since someone found an adequate replacement for under a dollar.

Thanks Stan. Where would be the best place for me to look, just the net in general?

Amy:

You may know all this. Most exhaust pipes and mufflers are still available from BMW and others. Complete stainless steel systems available from CoupeKing and others. The chrome tip came in 2 diameters --55mm and 60mm. I think the 3.0 took the 60mm. Both available from most sources, including Roger's tii: http://www.rogerstii.com/exhaust-10/
They are a press fit.

We're going to miss those two big pipes slanting up from under your bumper.

Don

The Orange Parts book shows 55mm for 2800CS and 60mm for 3.0CS. RealOEM doesn't show either. As I recall one was available and one wasn't.

So someone else like the dual Ansa, thanks Don.

Stan, are you actually selling the bungs?
