I'm wondering if anyone on the forum has successfully shipped an E3 windshield without damage?

If so, how did you do it? Custom padded container? Double-walled cardboard box with stiffeners round the edge / perimeter?

Internet searches revealed custom crates like this one:

Looks like some guys on the Opel forums have similar issues. Here's a thread where they used pipe insulation to protect the edges of the glass:

I see a custom crate & shipping materials in my future....

Mine was shipped to me in a vary large multi-walled cardboard box on top of a pallet.

Walloth and Nesch shipped mine in a crate with a bunch of cardboard padding. The crate and cardboard were destroyed by the time it made it to the States, but the glass was fine.

Waloth shipped mine (2021) and it was poorly packed in a box that looked like UPS had dragged it behind the truck. Unfortunately it survived intact. I say unfortunately as it was poorly cut (they had a bad batch a few years ago) and it took three installers to get it in and after cutting the glass to fit it broke. New one from W&N was shipped in the same long box but arrived in great condition and went right in.

It was a long rectangular box. The edge was protected by a foam roll that was cut and slipped over the glass and the box was packed with paper as I recall.
