Alunox Headers

Guys, I contacted Leon at Alunox and he provided the following :

Price for one set is 2,500 quid but if a group buy of say six, he can do at 1,900 each . For ten sets , price comes down to 1,600 each.

"header design is primary's 41.27 od, length is 27", collator outlet 54mm, wall thickness 1.2mm 304 and weigh about 6kg so very light "

You're welcome to PM me with your email details if you want additional pics or I'm sure Leon would be happy to oblige [email protected]

These headers look fabulous and it's a shame they have to be hidden in the engine bay . Regrettably, currency exchange rates /import taxes will prove prohibitive for some but nevertheless it's good to know this quality enhancement is available . Hope this helps. cheers, Simon

Hi Steve, I tried to contact them about 12 months ago but email went unanswered . It is very "odd" that a business such as performance exhausts can only be contacted by email...no phone number or address . I think they have supplied exhausts in the past as I discovered by following the Google trail , however, it seems many have since given up trying to contact them . At the time , I also googled their ABN ( Australian Business Number ) that they displayed but it seemed to relate to a totally separate entity...I think it was a printing company from memory . Might be best to look elsewhere .
Cheers, Simon

Steve,
Have you checked out the headers from Fritz bitz, while they are not as tasty as these other ones, I put a set on my engine with very little hassle. I put the full system on because it seemed to be a good price at the time, not sure if I would do that again and I plan to take the rear muffler off because it's possibly restrictive and just too quiet. It is the last and biggest of three mufflers.

Yep, had look the other day, not really loving them though, will keep pondering this one.
I do have one other option getting a set made here.
I have a man around the road from me who is an artist with headers, he repairs and makes them for the local Ferrari and Porsche agent, and he's very reasonable with cost.

RH Headers

Hi all RH drive guys.

I have had a chat with my header guy today about the possibility of manufacturing QUALITY SS headers for the coupes.
When I say quality, these would be very nice units. As I have mentioned before in this post he often repairs and manufactures for our local Ferrari and Porsche agent "Continental Cars" so the workmanship is fantastic.

I am in no doubt the headers from Alunox in the UK are very nice, but at £2500 pound they are just too much for us Antipodeans! Landed here in NZ with the exchange rate, freight, import duty and GST we would be paying in excess of $5000 NZ and Aust.
Even at £1600 we would be looking at $3080 NZ + freight, duty GST etc, probably all up getting close to $4000

As for the Fritz Bitz one's I just don't like the look of them, to me they look horrible (no offence intended)

So my guy is talking NZ $1800 ish for the first prototype set for my car and something like $1600-$1800 for the sets following after he is jigged up etc, I guess after he has done mine we will get a firm cost.

With the exchange rate, having these made here in NZ makes these very cost effective

$1800 NZ is $1670 Aus and only £940.00 + freight and any taxes etc

We are proposing the following for the spec

Main flange to the head would be from Steel, all pipes and other flanges from SS,
primary's 41.27 / 1 5/8 od, length is approx 27" ending at 2 x flanges for the twin pipes down to the exhaust system.
I think it would be best to have these "down pipes" made locally to suit each car as we are all potentially running different exhaust systems, flanges etc, and getting everything to line up could end up being a nightmare
We could supply starter stubs on matching flanges to give a start for "down pipes"

So, do we have any tentative interest??? I know you haven't got anything to look at but the ones in the picture at the beginning of this post are a very good indication of what you would be getting.

Steve

Steve, thanks for providing some feedback for those of us that drive on the "right" side . Personally, it will ultimately depend on where the "all up " number falls after allowing for import taxes, shipping etc . It would however be nice to be on beneficial side of the currency exchange for once !
Cheers, Simon

Yes I guess so,

I guess the best thing is for me to bite the bullet and get a set made, take some nice pictures and let you guys have a look at what you would be getting.

I will take the car to my guy ASAP ( steering column is out of it for a week or two) and get the ball rolling

Will keep you all informed

Thanks

Steve
