One of my friends grew up in Orange County, CA in the 70s and 80s. He worked for a well-known engine shop and was introduced to the widely known body metalworking experts Marcel de Lay and his son Luc de Lay. [Tim is still friends with Luc; there's a photo of Tim's Pantera on my E3 project page.]

Luc is known for building the "Marcel Roadster", a completely hand-built all aluminum roadster. It's a testament to his skills on an English Wheel.

Turns out, the car was at San Clemente Cars & Coffee recently. Here's the video links:

I think you can be a BMW guy and still appreciate the genius and talent that created that roadster...

I remember thinking.. the Marcel Roadster reminds me of something I saw at the Laguna Seca Historics in 2023...

Ah, here it is.. a 1958 Lister.

Key difference: the Lister has lots of external surface rivets. Luc welded his panels and polished them so well, you can't see the joints... craftsmanship at it's finest.

Fantastic effort and result. Reminds me of a car I saw on a trailer at the Geneva Concours in Geneva, IL last summer.
