After too long not wrenching on the bavaria, I started it yesterday and drove it just to loosen it up. I let it sit all day today with the carpets out and doors open to let that certain storage smell clear out. this afternoon i removed the rear seat bottom and to my suprise discovered the seat bottom has lilkely never been removed since the car was built 53 years ago. the reason i believe that is the protective plastic cover is still attached to the bottom of the seat, much like the cover had been torn off and the rest just remained in place. I feel like the rear seat has seen only limited use because the horsehair is in excellent conditon and the sealant sprayed on the material still has that just appilied shine that i really didnt know was supposed to be there. The center seatbelt appears to never have been used and very likely is still in it's original folded condition. all the carpet appears original, the headliner is original and overall the interior is in generally excellent condition. The driver seat cusion is badly torn so if anyone has a piece of tobacco seat insert material they will sell, contact me. I'll of course do a listing in parts wanted for the material.

World sells the material. It may be better to get the entire seat upholstery for both front seats, however, so that they match.

@Dick Steinkamp can you confirm if World Upholstery is actually still in business? I checked them out a few times in the last week as they seem to be the only ones that sell the proper Chevron/Herringbone vinyl Marineblau but they dont appear to be in business anymore per Google.

Let me know if anyone has other sources for this material and pattern.

However their website has this note:
~Worlduph.com was sold on November 20, 2024, and is now under new ownership and management. The new company has no affiliation with the prior ownership. Our online store is open and accepting orders via email at [email protected] or by phone at (888) 601-2184. All orders will be manufactured and fulfilled by the new ownership from our facility in NJ.

Im suspect to fork over a handful of cash for it go into the ether.

I dealt with them before they changed hands.

It would probably be best to give them a call.

There are posts on the company in NJ that took them over. All the equipment has been moved to the new facility and they are legit.

Please post a picture of the seat you are looking for. The vinyl designs are not all the same. I have a lower seat in Tobacco that I bought years ago that has a different design from mine so I never used it. It may be what you are looking for.

Larry are you willing to sell just that one piece in the image on the far right. I have a rip in my driver's seat side, not really noticeable but I would love to place a similar piece inside of it to bridge it to decrease it from being seen and bolster it from propagating.

Thanks, check them out.

do you have a picture of the lower seat you mentioned. mine is the "horseshoe" style and I really just need enough of the material to have the center portion repaired. pm a pic if you can, thanks

Contacted Worlds though their website and low and behold they got back within the day. Been chatting with someone named Heather and they have both the vinyl patterns in stock (smooth and Chevron) in Marine Blue.

They seem legit although I still want to see who I'll be paying the invoice to when that time comes next week. Hoping it's to Newark.

Was quoted $1280 for front only uppers, lowers, and headrests. Where as they sell the materials for $60/yard.

The full pre cut set seems pricey to me, but then again how long will they be stamping out cuts for the E3.

I really only need a driver's seat cover and headrest replacement so the $1280 is tough to chew.

What would you guys do in my situation? Go for the premade set or buy the material And DIY with some help.

When I purchased my coupe the front seat leather was cooked. I have some used material that came with my coupe that I didn't use it as I decided to go with a full interior replacement.

This appears to be a top and bottom of one seat. Let me know if you are interested.
