Trying to hook up an extra temp sender to turn on my rad's cooling fan. My thermostat housing only has one port. Are there many options from other M30 powered cars? I have the Alpina weber setup and something in the back of my head says that not all thermostat housings clear my intake manifold.

This one from a 535 has extra ports.

Tap the lower passenger side of your radiator? I have a new aluminum radiator which came with 2 such taps. The lowest one is hooked up to my stock temp gauge to show the temp of the coolant leaving the radiator. The other is set to be an emergency fan switch. Both need a separate ground wire for the sender. The stock sender location on the thermostat housing goes to my speaker cluster gauge.

There is a relay that hooks up to the existing sensor that came on coupes

Here's what's on my Bav. One stock sensor, one mechanical gauge, two temperature sensors for the fan.

I like the 82 degree sensor in the bottom of the radiator

Nice price-5 bucks marked down from 55 bucks!

Thanks a lot Don for those tips. I am not at my car's location at the moment, but I take it that this sensor replaces the drain plug on the stock rad? Or would I have to have a fitting soldered in place?
Is the higher activation temp of the top mounted switch because the coolant would measure hotter up top vs after passing through the rad?
My car is 1 71' Belgium spec with no AC and no electric fan other than the SPAL pusher fan I am attempting to fit in place of the Red mechanical fan. (all because the recored rad is now too thick to accommodate a fan in front of the water pump)

Pretty sure my Rad has no provision for this sender. I do like the clean look of this compared to a new thermostat housing.

I'll look into seeing what it would cost to have a rad shop solder in a new bung for the sender.

IMG_4113.JPG The temp box twins off the temp gauge sender
Operates at 92 degrees

If you want install a sensor in the t-stat housing because you have no fitting on your radiator you will need a later(79) housing and a 91 degree sensor

hi @sfdon

an old thread, but,

following your advices we should use an 82º C if radiator lower hose
or 91º if TSTAT housing

i have a hole and thread ready for a switch in the top right hand side of my radiator, should i use then the 91º ?

regards
