ex Parker Spooner coupe, now owned by Lonny Shirk was damaged along with 2 e30 m3 when a storm blew over a vendors large heavy canopy and framing during the banquet on Friday night ... as reported by Steve Johnson and Mike Campbell on the e30 M3 sig.

so far ... that's all that has been posted on the SIG. no pictures or any more data. Steve Johnson perhaps will post some pix here ... since he is an e30 m3 and an e9 guy. (and evp of bmwcca)

Steve?

This happened last night about 9:30PM while everyone was at the final banquet there was also a E24 635csi damaged and a E92 335I that was totaled. The E-9's damage was to right front fender and right side door when the plastic barrels used to stake the tent down skipped accross the parking lot. The metal frame and plastic tarp had Lonny's & LouAnn's coupe and one of the E-30 M3's trapped under the wreckage.

This would be my 2800.We are still in shock! I need a fender, door ,belt trim, hood, etc.but I drove it home home 430 miles and it ran great!
I will post some pics later!

Sorry to hear this. Sincerely hope the "vendor" whose tent collapsed will be stepping up to take care of those innocent folks with damaged vehicles even though this sounds like an unfortunate act of mother nature

sorry for you, bad luck
anyway, i assume that when someone installs a non permanent tent like that, he is supposed to have some sort of insurance !?
good luck on your repair !

Glad at least you were able to drive her home and that was uneventful.

Hope Hagerty handles the claim quickly and she's fixed to your satisfaction

What an evening?
We were at the final banquet and the lights dimmed one time. Didn't give it much thought.
After the banquet was over I noticed a lot of scurrying around and overheard someone say there had been a storm.
Got to the back doors of the hotel to see a 40x40 tent flipped over on 6-8 cars in the parking lot.
Lonny's beautiful award winning 2800 was one of them. An couple E30 M3's and an E24 M6 and a modern 5 series.
You can see the barrels of water (lower left) that were along one side of the tent to try and hold it down.
Must have been something like a micro-burst. Very small selected area.
My M5 was about 100 ft from the area where the tent landed. You can see it left of the blue Mini.
Luckily no one was out there?
Taken from my hotel room with cell phone. Sorry

Off to Mario's

Can't be sending off to Mario's for just the ding's! Sounds like you are lining up your Christmas present. What's the plan?

Lonny's car is complete!

Thought an update was due.

Hagerty was awesome to work with on this. They seriously stepped up to the plate, as our estimate of the car was close to 1 1/2 times the initial estimate.

Last week I returned the 2800CS back to PA. We ended up doing a complete overall restoration of the exterior on the car. As the right front fender had recently been replaced and the damage wasn't severe we metal worked the fender and replaced the door, and corrected all of the little things on the car.

Lonny hasn't yet seen the car..... We'll be posting a pictorial of the repairs and restoration on my website, I'll bait you all here with some pictures of the next few days.

Stay
Tuned!

I wish I could be there to see Lonny's face when he gets back!
