Tips on removing power steering filter cover.

It's quite likely my coupe has its original PS filter. I have renewed the fluid in the past. I have a new filter ready to install. Any tips on removing the clip that holds the filter cover? Appears to be a pressure clip. Factory manual is no help.

Gosh I replaced mine and do not remember it being difficult. I think I just "unscrewed" the clip.
 
Yup, I used a pliers, pulled up, and turned it off as if screwed on. It took a while.

I expected the old filter to look worse than it did after 60k original miles.

I've had the car for 18 years and had not changed it. Before that it sat in a garage for 20. My guess is the filter I removed is 52 years old. Go figure.
