The Orange Parts Book in 11/75 shows the metal expansion tank as available and the plastic replacement as "by choice." The rubber hose to the engine is unique with plastic tank as well.

Everyone can now go back to their business as usual.

Couldn't resist going to realoem.com... all three expansion tanks are "ENDED" which ought to settle any questions like "which one?".

Ah, but if looking for used ones, this trivia is golden! If you want a new one today it's e24 version with hose fitting in wrong position.

(And this question comes up at least once a year)

I have much more trivia if anyone enjoys this kind of thing.

OK, here is today's trivia:

Window motors: The sardine can motors and regulators were replaced by one piece motors (e28 style) in February 1973 at US VINs 2240634 and 2250501. Window switches and wiring was also changed along with addition of two circuit breakers and a relay.

(Sorry, focus will tend to be on US/NA coupes)

OK, I've been lax in providing trivia updates.

Fan Clutch: The mechanical fan clutch was superseded by the viscous clutch during the 1974 model year for US/NA coupes at VINs 4310304 and 4335367.

Fan Shroud: The fan shroud was added to 1974 model US/NA CSA coupes.

I am of the school that after 50, every fact you learn means a fact you lost......I just hope what I lost while reading these posts is something I will never need.

Nobody cares about the name of the state capitals anyway.
