Does anyone know a source for the white gasket that holds in the mirror glass? Being the same mirror as a 2002, there is a part number (51161807748) but even La Jolla Independent and Mobile Tradition say they are no longer produced. Someone gave me a hint that a very early '70's Mercedes SL has a very similar gasket that can be used, but needs to be cut to fit since that trapezoid mirror is a bit bigger. However, the dealer wanted over $50 for it.

I don't really want to buy a complete replacement mirror, but my gasket looks like crap:

maybe it's possible to send the old one as sample for a new cloned gasket. i've seen fabricators online that do this type of thing if you search for "custom gasket"

As an update, I used Jaymic and it arrived in less than 1.5wks. The fit is perfect! Thanks to everyone for all the suggestions! This is something that has been bothering me for over 5yrs.
